Alongside her professional career, Shela has dedicated herself to preserving and sharing the remarkable history of her family. As a descendant of Baron Captain Georg von Trapp and Agathe Gobertina Whitehead—the parents of the seven von Trapp children portrayed in "The Sound of Music"—she believes history has its greatest value not when it is simply remembered, but when it inspires service, learning, and a deeper understanding of ourselves and one another.
Shela is the founder of Celebrity Legacy and co-founder of the Georg & Agathe Foundation. Through historical research, archives, public speaking, educational initiatives, and international collaborations, she works to preserve family heritage while promoting the arts, peace education, and a deeper appreciation of Europe's shared cultural heritage.
